Healing with Colour
Initial Consultation: - Client presents with health complaints. She has Depression, Rest Leg Syndrome, Chronic Neck & Back Pain and Insomnia. She is to achieve her goals of no Depression as her long term goal and managing her Depression, Insomnia and Pain Control through Colour Therapy. She states she suffers from these ailments every day and does not wish to stay on narcotics for long term use. She will see me on a weekly basis in order to help her achieve her goals. I have worked with this client on each chapter I completed in order to assure her the best treatment of care possible.
Colour Tips for better sleep: On her first visit, we discussed the colours inside her home. And I spoke briefly on colours she should change and the reason behind the changes. She agrees to change the walls of her bedroom, from yellow to blue in order to help her Insomnia. She states she usually wakes every three to four hours. This leaves her feeling tired and exhausted. She states the first night she actually slept better since the room was darker than normal. Since then, she has also noticed her Restless Leg has calmed slightly. She feels more rested upon waking and easier for her to get her day started. She is eager to try more colour changes throughout the home to see the differences it will make.
Lifting depression: After client noticed difference in her bedroom, she decided to change her Living Room walls from brown to a pastel yellow. This will cause her room to be brighter and she will have a positive energy to keep her energetic and lively. This should help her in controlling her Depression. She has battled Depression for several years and just wants to get herself back, she states. She continues to review her notes taken at each session and I can answer any questions she may have also. She feels this is the way to get maximum results out of each visit she makes. I encourage this since she has failed in the past with other all nature treatments. She chose this in order to self-help but after stopping suggestions in four to five days, she decided to let me help her.
Follow up visit: On the client’s fourth visit, she is showing signs of improvement especially in her area of depression. She is more upbeat, joyful, full of energy, and states her diet has improved also. We discussed how colour therapy was useful in the foods you eat and how it should be followed in order to release negative energy in the body, explain how negative energy affected the body which in turn affects you health. She will continue to learn on colour therapy and put it in her daily routine.
We discussed Colour Therapy for her pain control but at this time, client would like to continue on her improvement of Insomnia and Depression. We will address Colours to use in her pain control at the time she wishes to pursue this area. I have given her handouts about using colour therapy to reduce inflammation. She will review these at home.
6 weeks later: After 6 weeks of colour therapy, client has decided to learn more on colour therapy in order to ease inflammation in her neck and back. She has had two neck surgeries in the past along with one case of whiplash after a motor vehicle accident earlier in this year. She wants to find ways to deal with her pain in a more natural way. As stated earlier, she also wants to discontinue her pain medicines in the future. Client has changed her bathroom colour from dark blue to a brighter soft pink. She states it helps her relax while taking a soak. Her lighting in the room makes her bath more enjoyable and she feels and looks more healthy and glowing she says.
Wearing Colour: We are meeting on her two month visit in order to discuss changes in her lifestyle and how colour therapy has helped her in the main areas listed as her complaints. She has purchased different colour of clothing in order to change the reflection of light hitting her skin and make her appear more approachable instead of standoffish as earlier. She wore a lot of black due to colour making her appear smaller in size and weight. She has introduced more green leafy vegetables into her diet along with orange and red foods being more nutritional for her than a coke and potato chips. She has changed the colour in the rooms in her home to make positive statements, positive energy, while allowing her to feel refreshed and energized upon waking to producing more energy for her to begin her days. She has also become more active outdoors for physical exercise, breathing techniques, and also her enjoying nature.
Moving Forward: On the clients three month visit, she has made a journal to document what areas she needs improvement, her emotions on each day, changes she made in her home, diet, and also her clothing. I have received permission from client to discuss her information in my required case study. She has documented on rainy days, she seems to become depressed more easily. She states she believes it is because she is unable to work outside and enjoy nature and kayaking. I have suggested that she purchase books discussing how, why, and where colour therapy can help in her health, moods, and relieve some pain possibly in her neck.
In the future, client will continue to research, document, and practice colour therapy. She has noticed a difference in herself as a person. She has her mood swings (as she states) but quickly begins to handle the situation turning it in an opposite direction as needed. She keeps her books and her notes given and taken during sessions as a quick fix and she will call if she feels she may need to look at some advance learning of colour therapy.
Client has successfully completed all her treatment plans and will continue to try colour therapy in all areas of her daily living activities. She states that she was very skeptical about this holistic therapy but believes in it more after seeing the results she has. She will continue to use the information she has learned and put it in practice every day. She has all handouts and reference material to reflect back on when she sees herself going back to her old habits. She also shares with her daughter the information she has learned in order to possibly help her daughter with her Bipolar symptoms.
Feedback: The client has completely changed all colours in the home and in her foods. She is also starting on a vitamin regimen to possible stimulate her appetite. The documentation in her journal has improved listing her emotions and how she handles them using colour therapy, pain levels on a daily basis using colour therapy along with meditation, and she states she seems more like her old self as when she was younger. She will continue to follow up with me every three months unless she needs to see me sooner. We also discussed in detail and length how her continuing using and learning more on colour therapy, meditation, and the values it has on a her lifestyle, diet, functioning of daily activities and insomnia.
